Hello and welcome to our coverage of the Final of this T20I Tri-Series consisting of hosts New Zealand Pakistan and Bangladesh. It is New Zealand who are up against Pakistan in the summit clash. The Hagley Oval in Christchurch is all set to host this enthralling fixture.

Excellent death bowling from Pakistan because NZ had set themselves up for a score in the 175-180 range. The innings revolved around a typically sublime Williamson innings with the skipper finding his range from ball one and it was a welcome return to form for him. Phillips and Chapman gave him able support on a surface that wasn’t the most straightforward to hit through the line. Pakistan’s bowlers used the slower balls well particularly in the slog overs – only 33 runs came off the final 30 balls – and that’s left New Zealand a bit short at least mentally. They definitely have a respectable total and it is a two-paced deck but it isn’t daunting by any means.

They played two games against each other with both sides winning a game apiece. Today they will not only get a chance to settle the head-to-head but shall also get an opportunity to test themselves in a knockout scenario. The Black Caps start as favourites but in a Cup final more so in this format anything can happen. Particularly when Pakistan are around.

Excellent death overs bowling from Pakistan stops New Zealand from getting over 180. Last five overs have yielded just 34 runs for the hosts. New Zealand finished at 163/7 in their allotted 20 overs!

Earlier Babar Azam won the toss and opted to field first. Finn Allen started off brilliantly as he smoked three boundaries in the first five deliveries. But Naseem Shah had his man in the final delivery of the eventful first over.

In came the Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson who looked in amazing touch with the word go. Though Devon Conway at the other end struggled during his stay played a couple of glorious strokes. The duo added 35 runs in the powerplay before the southpaw was taken care of by Haris Rauf in the final over of the field restrictions.

Glenn Phillips and Williamson added exactly 50-runs for the third wicket. Both played some eye-catching shots but the former in trying to get under the skin of Mohammad Nawaz mistimes one straight down the throat of Shan Masood in the 12th over.

Kane Williamson continued his merry way in the match and reached his 15th T20I fifty with a six-over deep point. But Shadab Khan had his number as Williamson was caught out at long-on. But before getting out the Blackcaps skipper stitched 37 runs along with Mark Chapman for the fourth wicket.

Chapman and James Neesham hammered a few lusty blows in the fag end of the innings. But once both were out in the same over (19th). While Chapman was holed out at long-off Neesham was run-out in trying to sneak an unnecessary bye.

Pitch Report: We have seen a couple of high-scoring games in the last two matches and the same trend is expected to be followed on Friday as well. As the majority of the games have been won by the chasing team whoever wins the toss will look to bowl first.
